Best thing about academic advising: Being able to meet students where they are at in their academic career and being a resource to help enhance their experience to successfully complete their degree.

Favorite sport: It’s a tie between curling and competitive eating.

Favorite movie: I’m a big Mike Myers fan and love his early film, So I Married an Axe Murderer. It’s fun to see a glimpse of some of his later characters (like Shrek and some characters from the Austin Powers movies).

Favorite social networking sites: LinkedIn and Instagram are the ones I use, but not as frequently as GoodReads.com. I love that I can track books I’ve read, follow my favorite authors, and get suggestions for future reads from friends and other bibliophiles.

Road map: I like to travel! I was born in a small rural town in Minnesota, moved to the east coast (two separate occasions), lived in Salzburg, Austria, and ended up staying in Colorado after coming here for what was supposed to be a three month internship.

Most interesting book I have read: The Martian by Andy Weir. While I did not understand fully all the science that backed up the book, it was a great exploration into the unknown with a logical approach to survival.

Something you may not know about me: I love geography! I like to tell people how I scored 100% in high school when I had to identify all the states and their capitals, as well as all the countries in the world and their respective capitals. One of my top “bucket list” items is to tour all 50 state capitals.
