University College is pleased to introduce the Master of Arts in Professional Creative Writing with four concentration and certificate areas:
- Professional Fiction Writing
- Professional Dramatic Writing
- Professional Creative Nonfiction Writing
- Professional Poetry Writing
You’ll work through the entire writing process: from research to first draft, manuscript submission to publication. Learn how to reach an audience with your writing and build a brand around your passion and persona. Craft an extensive portfolio of writing throughout the program and, as part of your culminating project, submit a completed written work. Leverage your passion and differentiate yourself within the diverse community of writers with a master’s or certificate from the Professional Creative Writing program.
“We are excited to be offering a program based on the notion that good creative writing is rooted in deep reading in both the tradition and in the contemporary scene,” said Joe Hutchison, Academic Director for the Professional Creative Writing program and the Colorado Poet Laureate. “Our focus is on craft and professionalism, and our aim is to make sure that all our writers have the tools they need to write well and publish in the genres of their choice.”
