Joe Hutchison - University College - Poet Colorado

Today, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper introduced the state’s newest, and eighth, poet laureate—Joseph Hutchison, the interim academic director for the Arts and Culture and Global Affairs programs at University College. Joe has been teaching at University College since 2003 and has authored 15 collections of poems.

The Poet Laureate serves as an advocate for poetry, literacy and literature statewide. Joe will carry on the tradition and duties over the next four years by presenting the opening poem for the Colorado General Assembly legislative session, visiting schools and libraries across the state, reading at literary festivals, and presenting poetry at public events—all while serving in the interim academic director role at University College at the University of Denver.

We congratulate Joe on this outstanding accomplishment! Express your congratulations via social media or as a comment here, and we’ll share it with Joe.
